DIVAN 2
In 1962, Simon P. Henningsen unveiled a new pendant purposely designed for Tivoli’s famous restaurant, DIVAN 2. The function rooms offered spectacular views over the garden lake, and at night, the pendant’s mirrored surfaces would catch the light from the colourful exterior lighting and the lake.
When it was time for the famous fireworks, the lights inside the restaurant would dim, and the lamps ascended towards the ceiling to allow guests an unobscured view of the show.
The success of DIVAN 2 went further than just Copenhagen's beloved amusement park when LYFA began offering the lamp to the general consumer. DIVAN 2 has been awarded several Danish and international design prizes and, at one point, was even exhibited at the Louvre in Paris.
Wall lamps are ideal when a light is needed to highlight objects or create beautiful illuminated patterns on the wall - without taking up too much space. Use wall lamps for living spaces such as above the kitchen countertop to ensure a suitable working light or as a bedside lamp where a direct or ambient reading light is needed. Wall lamps can also be placed in the hallway where three or more lamps are placed in a row to provide an even illumination and visual depth to the room.
When mounting wall lamps, we recommend that the height should be carefully considered in order to ensure a glare-free light where the light source is concealed behind the outer shade. This can vary depending on the purpose and interior but should be taken into consideration to create the ideal lighting experience.
