TRANSFORMING HOW WE USE HOTELS

In the heart of Warsaw’s Old Town, the new PURO Hotel redefines hospitality for a contemporary audience. More than a destination for travellers, it is conceived as a dynamic hub for locals and visitors alike — a place where business lunches, casual gatherings, cultural events, and quiet retreats coexist under one roof.

A SCANDINAVIAN HOME IN WARSAW

The project was entrusted to Copenhagen-based studio GamFratesi, whose design philosophy balances intimacy and openness. Their vision drew inspiration from the idea of a Scandinavian home: informal, soft, and welcoming. Instead of designing a hotel as a singular statement, they shaped it as a series of interconnected spaces, much like the rooms of a villa, each encouraging different moods, behaviours, and experiences.

SPACES FOR EVERY MOOD

Guests move seamlessly through environments that range from the intimate to the social. The entrance welcomes with the calm of a private home, which then opens into a lively lounge and communal kitchen — spaces that invite interaction and belonging. Smaller rooms across the ground floor create a rhythm of contrasts, allowing each guest to find a place that suits their state of mind. The design embraces flexibility: whether one seeks quiet reflection or vibrant exchange, the hotel adapts to its community.

LIGHT AS AN EXPERIENCE

To capture this atmosphere, light becomes an active participant in shaping behaviour: soft glows for intimate moments, sculptural forms for gathering spaces, and ambient textures that encourage guests to linger.

A CURATED LIGHTSCAPE

Across the interiors, a curated selection of LYFA designs sets the mood — GOVERNOR / Floor 405, GOTHIC / Wall II, REPOSE / Wall 175, FUTÉ / Table 180, and MEMOIR / Pendant 120 III illuminate the guest rooms, while MEMOIR / Ceiling 120 III and the MOSAIK / Pendant 250 create a distinctive rhythm in the common areas. In the lobby, the iconic PAN / Pendant 300 welcome guests with a warm and sophisticated glow, reinforcing the hotel’s balance between intimacy and character.

ELEGANCE THROUGH TIME

Materials and objects were curated by GamFratesi with the same philosophy: a blend of contemporary and vintage pieces, handmade bricks, and carefully sourced woods. The result is a hotel that feels collected over time, like a home enriched by memory. Rather than aiming for perfection, the interiors embrace patina, allowing the space to evolve gracefully with use. This quiet timelessness ensures the hotel will remain relevant, adaptable, and loved for years to come.
