A NEW DESTINATION FOR LIGHT

In the heart of Copenhagen, we have opened the doors to our new LYFA showroom at Bredgade 73 — a space dedicated to experiencing light, design, and craftsmanship in a refined architectural setting. Conceived as more than a traditional showroom, the space has invited visitors to explore lighting through atmosphere and materiality, offering a calm environment where design can be experienced slowly and thoughtfully.

A DIALOGUE OF DISCIPLINES

The showroom has been created together with our curated partners, bringing a constellation of complementary Danish design voices under one roof. Alongside our lighting collections, visitors have encountered sculptural objects from Stoff Nagel, acoustic solutions by Matre, and artistic works presented by Arturel. Together, these elements have formed a thoughtful dialogue between light, art, and sound — disciplines that shape how we experience space.

HERITAGE REIMAGINED

The showroom is located within the historic former Royal Pharmacy, where we have carefully preserved the character of the original building while introducing a contemporary sensibility. Restored architectural details have provided the backdrop for a sequence of intimate rooms, where textures, materials, and light have unfolded gradually. The result has been a calm and immersive environment that has encouraged visitors to explore and experience the subtle relationship between architecture and illumination.

THE HISTORY OF BREDGADE 73

The building at Bredgade 73 was constructed between 1884 and 1886 by architect Emil Blichfeldt, whose work has left a lasting imprint on Copenhagen’s architectural landscape, including the iconic main entrance to Tivoli. Designed in the historicist style typical of the late 19th century, the five-storey property was originally built as a retail building along one of Copenhagen’s most distinguished streets.

THE ROYAL PHARMACY

From 1912 to 1965, the address housed the Royal Frederiks Hospital Pharmacy, which relocated here from across the street when the historic hospital closed and medical services moved to the newly established Rigshospitalet. The pharmacy included both a public dispensary and a laboratory where medicines were produced on site.

A LIVING GALLERY OF LIGHT

Throughout the space, our lighting designs have been presented as part of a living gallery. Pendants, wall lamps, and table lamps have been thoughtfully placed to reveal both their sculptural presence and atmospheric qualities within real architectural contexts. The interplay between lighting, acoustic elements, and art has allowed each piece to be experienced not as a single object, but as part of a larger spatial composition.
