A LANDMARK REIMAGINED
Brøchner Hotels is set to introduce Ottilia Heritage, a remarkable new chapter in luxury hospitality. Nestled within Copenhagen’s historic Carlsberg City District, Ottilia Heritage stands as a grand extension to the award-winning Hotel Ottilia, offering a one-of-a-kind stay where heritage and contemporary sophistication merge seamlessly.
Set in a meticulously restored 1881 landmark - the very building that once stored malted barley for the world-famous Carlsberg beer - Ottilia Heritage pays tribute to its rich past while redefining luxury hospitality. This unique retreat unfolds across 14 grand suites, ranging from 25-65 m2, each designed as an individual masterpiece of industrial elegance, contemporary minimalism, and bespoke craftsmanship.

REUSE AS REFINED CRAFTMANSHIP
To further honor the building’s legacy, signature wood sourced from the original structure plays a central role throughout the suites. Discarded Douglas fir floorboards supplied by Dinesen have been carefully preserved and reused, now forming bespoke bed frames and custom-made closets. The furniture has been handcrafted by Danish joinery Blinkenberg, where visible joints and natural wood grain are intentionally left exposed, celebrating both material honesty and craftsmanship.

A STAY IN DANISH ICONS
As a tribute to Carlsberg’s iconic legacy, Ottilia Heritage is home to Three Danish Icons - three distinct signature suites, each designed to honor a defining architectural or historical element of Carlsberg’s past:
– The Heritage Suites - Celebrating the industrial grandeur of the original building.
– The Silo Suites - Featuring the preserved malt silos as a striking architectural centerpiece.
– The Elephant Suite - Offering a breathtaking view of the iconic Elephant Gate, one of Carlsberg’s most legendary landmarks.

SCULPTING HISTORY WITH LIGHT
To complement the architectural narrative of suites, LYFA lighting plays a significant role in shaping atmosphere and enhancing the material contrasts. The iconic PAN Wall 95 introduces a sculptural rhythm along the walls, casting layered reflections that accentuate the raw textures of concrete and steel.
Alongside it, a newly developed wall-mounted version of NINOTCHKA, adds softness and depth.

DESIGNED TO EVOLVE
Ottilia Heritage embraces patina rather than perfection. By preserving original materials and reinterpreting them through contemporary craftsmanship, the suites are designed to age beautifully over time. Industrial steel, historic timber, and bespoke furnishings coexist with modern textures and artistic minimalism.
The balance between permanence and adaptability ensures that the space can evolve while retaining its soul — a philosophy deeply rooted in Danish design tradition. The interior design is conceived and realized by Brøchner and the Brøchner Hotels design team, whose thoughtful approach reinforces the dialogue between heritage and contemporary luxury.
