MENTON is a pendant lamp crafted from lightweight aluminum, designed with vertical slats that form a distinctive sculptural silhouette. Its rotor-inspired structure is both architectural and functional, creating a lamp that is as striking in form as it is in function.

ORIGIN STORY
The piece was designed from Tivoli’s Hanging Gardens in Copenhagen. In this project, garden architect Eywin Langkilde created flower pots, while Simon P. Henningsen introduced a series of lamps to complement them. By placing the slats vertically, Henningsen achieved the effect of a rotor that could slowly turn in the wind, bringing subtle movement and a sense of wonder to the gardens. The first experiments for this concept were carried out in Menton, South France, where Henningsen had his summer house and developed ideas for Tivoli’s lighting. MENTON was never released for general production and remained a one-of-a-kind design made exclusively for Tivoli. Today, LYFA reintroduces this extraordinary lamp, making it available for the first time.
DESIGNED BY SIMON P. HENNINGSEN
From a young age, Simon P. Henningsen learned about the impact of different kinds of light and the qualities of lighting from his father, the legendary Danish architect and lighting designer, Poul Henningsen. The two worked together on various design tasks for the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen and in 1948, Simon succeeded his father and became chief architect in the amusement park.
Today, Simon P. Henningsen’s work is characterised by a distinctive whimsical and geometric aesthetic and his use of reflections and shimmering surfaces. His unique designs are collector’s items and still admired across the world.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
Turn off the lamp before cleaning it. Dust off with a dry soft cloth. Greasy spots can be removed with a soft cloth, wring it in lukewarm water containing a mild detergent. Never use strong or abrasive household cleaners for cleaning the lamp.
